Honorable Jesse L.G. Alig

Jesse John Leon Guerrero Alig is the Republican Mayor of the Municipality of Piti, Guam. He was first elected mayor in January 2017 and will serve his third term commencing January 2025 in the 18th Mayors’ Council of Guam. He was elected President of the Mayors’ Council of Guam in January 2021 until the present. Prior to being President, he served as Treasurer from January 2017 until January 2021.
 
The improvements to the Municipality of Piti under his administration include the relocation and construction of the multipurpose Basketball and Pickleball Court, the renovation of the Mayor’s Office and Annex and the creation of the Route 6 Scenic Route. He created and participated in community programs and events, namely, Afterschool Homework Assistance and Mentoring Program, Faha Youth Football Foundation, Guam Power Authority Vegetation Management Program, Holiday events, Movies in the Park, Neighborhood Watch Program, Piti Pirates Youth Baseball, Ridge to Reef Youth Program, Rotaract Club with Jose Rios Middle School, Santa Cruz Fiesta at Atantano, Senior Citizens activities, Sister Village Sister Squadron/Sister Command Program, summer youth program, Youth Basketball Tournaments and Youth Empowerment Program.
 
His auxiliary responsibilities in various boards and commissions include: Commission on Decolonization, Elder Justice Advisory Council, Guam Invasive Species Task Force, Guam System of Care Council, Guam War Claims Adjudication Committee and the USDAFeral Swine Task Force. He remains engaged in community charitable organizations, specifically, Assumption of Our Lady Parish Executive Committee, Catholic Cemeteries Board of Directors and the Rotary Club of Northern Guam.
 
Preceding his mayoral term, he was a special assistant to Former Governor Eddie Baza Calvo from 2010 to 2016. His responsibilities included community relations, the medical referral office, protocol and the Governor’s residence.
 
His Government of Guam service began in 1997 as staff to former Piti Mayor Isabel Haggard and continued through the terms of former Piti Mayor +Vicente Gumataotao. In 2005, he expanded his business entrepreneurship with the opening of a floral and event planning shop, Heaven Scent, while maintaining his presidency over the family real estate business, Alig Investment Corporation since 1998.
 
Jesse is the eldest son of Edward Santos Alig and +Carmen Cristobal Leon Guerrero. His siblings are Daniel and Carmelita. His paternal grandparents are +Jesus Guerrero (Familian Liberato) and +Natividad Santos (Familian Tiburcio) Alig; and his maternal grandparents are +Juan Borja and +Eduvigis (Bing) Cristobal Leon Guerrero. He graduated from John F. Kennedy High School in 1993 and studied Education at the University of Guam.
