Pedro Suzuki Blas was born and raised in the beautiful village of Yigo. He is the son of Peter Finoña Blas & the late Lourdes Suzuki Blas, and is the brother of Lou-isa Suzuki Blas. His paternal grandparents are the late Yigo Commissioner and U.S. Chief Marshall, Juan Guerrero Blas and the late Clotilde Finoña Blas. He is also the nephew of the late Yigo Commissioners David Guerrero Blas and John Finoña Blas. His maternal grandparents are the late Jose Santos Suzuki and the late Lourdes Ada Suzuki.

In his early years, Pedro has attended Upi Elementary School, FBLG Middle School, and graduated from Simon Sanchez High School in 2015. He then proceeded to further his education at the University of Guam, receiving his Bachelor’s Degree in CHamoru Studies in 2021.

In the years of 2019 and 2021, Pedro taught the CHamoru language and culture at the Chief Hurao Academy for youth ages 7 to 9. He then worked as a Research Assistant for the Micronesian Area Research Center (MARC) Library at the University of Guam, and then proceeded to work at the University of Guam Press as its Distribution Manager and Merchandiser from 2022 to 2024.

Through his work at UOG Press, Pedro spearheaded the “Village Bookshelf” initiative in 2022, donating books and procuring bookshelves to provide cultural literature to all of our island’s villages. He has also coordinated donations and workshops on cultural literacy in community spaces for public school students and at-risk youth. Aside from his work. experience, Pedro has also participated in other volunteer programs ranging from the Guam Special Olympics, to Coastal Cleanups and storm/typhoon recovery efforts.

When he is not out in the community, Pedro enjoys raising his cows on his family ranch, just as the generations did before him. It is through this work on the ranch that Pedro developed a deep love for his village and culture, which became a factor in motivating him to serve Yigo this early on in his life just as his grandfather and uncles did years ago, with the same hard work and compassion for those who call Yigo home. After a successful bid for Vice Mayor in the 2024 election, Pedro is humbled and honored to continue the hard work of the leaders before him and hopes to contribute to the quality and pride of living in Yigo.
